Church of La Mola

Built in 1784 atop the plateau of La Mola for the most isolated community on the island, this simple parish church is dedicated to the Virgin of El Pilar (Mare de Déu del Pilar). It follows the rural Pityusic model: solidly whitewashed walls of pure white, a single nave and a sturdy arched porch sheltering the door, in the style of the churches of Ibiza. It presides over the square of El Pilar de la Mola and was declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1996.
