Formentera is also best discovered from the sea. The island has no airport: it can only be reached by boat, and its only port, La Savina , in the north, is the gateway and the nautical heart of the island. Arrive by boat Ferries connect Ibiza Town with La Savina in about 30 minutes , with frequent departures throughout the year and more frequent departures in summer. You can also get there by your own or a rented boat. Ports and moorings The port of La Savina offers more than 150 moorings spread between two marinas. Responsible mooring and Posidonia The Posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows of Formentera are a World Heritage Site and are responsible for maintaining the island's crystal-clear waters. Regattas Formentera is the destination of numerous regattas that set sail from places like Torrevieja, Sitges, Calpe or Mallorca, especially in spring and summer.
