A symbol of Formentera's agricultural past, the Molí Vell de La Mola is an 18th-century flour windmill, considered one of the best-preserved in the Balearic Islands. Made of cylindrical stone, with a conical roof and six sails, it stands next to El Pilar de la Mola, atop the island's eastern plateau. Inside its restored interior, the gears and millstones that the wind set in motion are preserved; the date 1778 is engraved on the machinery. Restored in 1994 by the Fundació Illes Balears, admission is free.
