The highest point on Formentera. At the eastern end of the island is one of the sites that many visitors consider to be one of the most magical places on the island. We are referring to the La Mola Lighthouse. It is one of the most spectacular places on the whole island, making it a great tourist attraction. The lighthouse is located on the edge of a cliff 120 metres above sea level, on the plateau of La Mola, where the highest point on the island is also to be found: Sa Talaïassa, 192 metres above sea level. One of the most impressive features of this place are its views of the Mediterranean. Truly breathtaking. It is also highly recommended to enjoy this natural setting at sunrise or sunset. Since 2019, the lighthouse has housed a cultural space dedicated to promoting Formentera’s maritime heritage, featuring an exhibition area and a multipurpose venue for concerts, conferences and small-scale theatrical performances. Since 2026, this cultural and educational space has been devoted to promoting Formentera’s artistic and cultural heritage. It permanently displays a donation made by Cati Verdera to the people of Formentera: a collection of 56 works by artists closely connected to the island, making this space a leading centre for the appreciation and promotion of contemporary art in Formentera. The exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Closed on Mondays. It will remain closed from 1 December to 11 February. General admission price is 4.5 €. Free admission for residents, children until 18 years old and unemployed people. Retired and students will pay a reduced price of € 2.5. Next to the lighthouse is a monument in honour of the writer Jules Verne for the mention he makes in his book “Hector Servadac (travels and adventures through the solar system)”.
