On the Punta de sa Gavina, at the westernmost tip of Formentera, this circular, truncated-cone tower was part of the 18th-century network of coastal defence towers built against pirates. Erected around 1762-1763, it kept watch over the western flank and the approaches to the port of La Savina. Today it is one of the island's wildest corners, set within the Parc Natural de ses Salines, with views of Ibiza, es Vedrà and es Vedranell: a much-loved spot to take in the sunset. You reach it on foot along the green route from Can Marroig (around 2 km, half an hour). Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
