Tower of Garroveret

An 18th-century coastal watchtower, built in 1763 at the punta des Garroveret, at the tip of Cap de Barbaria, perched on a cliff some 65 metres above the sea. It was part of the defensive tower network of the Pitiusas and is the southernmost tower on Formentera. Truncated-cone in shape and standing about 9 metres tall, it was disarmed in 1824 and is listed as a Cultural Heritage Site. You can drive to the Cap de Barbaria lighthouse from Sant Francesc, then continue on foot for a few minutes towards the east. Sunset is one of the finest times to visit.
