Cap de Barbaria III is part of Formentera's most important prehistoric complex, set at the southern tip of the island, which was densely populated during the Bronze Age more than 3,000 years ago. It is the most weathered of the three sites open to visitors, yet it still preserves the walls of several buildings, with upright orthostats and an attached boat-shaped (naviform) structure. It is thought not to have been a dwelling but rather a space connected with farming and livestock activities. You reach it via the road from Sant Francesc towards Cap de Barbaria, crossing an arid landscape of striking beauty. Access is free; comfortable footwear, water and sun protection are advisable, as there is hardly any shade.
