The image of an almost desert-like landscape, a narrow road, the distant lighthouse in the center and the blue of the sea in the background, is part of the collective cinematographic imagination. The lighthouse protagonist of this photograph captured by Julio Medem in «Lucía y el sexo» is that of Es Cap de Barbaria , located on the southwestern tip of the island. This route, starting from San Francesc, will lead us to it, following the south direction. Once past the village, we delve into a rural Formentera, with its fields cultivated with almond trees, vineyards and fig trees, framed by dry stone walls. The last section runs through a wooded area, to abruptly change to an arid landscape. The tip of Es Cap presents a rocky and dry appearance, with low scrub vegetation formed by rosemary, fennel and thyme. Surprisingly, this spot had been a forest, before its massive felling to produce charcoal. In the background, the lighthouse stands. Once we reach it, to the right there is access to the well-known cave that also appears in Medem's film, with breathtaking sea views. On clear days, the mountainous silhouette of the peninsula can be distinguished.
