Sant Ferran → Cala en Baster

Anyone who knows a little about Formentera can certify that one of the most special and incomparable places on the island is Cala en Baster . It is a fishermen's refuge surrounded by high limestone walls where traditional boat sheds, carved like caves in the marés rock, stand out. To access it easily, we will depart from the town of Sant Ferran de Ses Roques , where we can first visit its church, the square, and the legendary Fonda Pepe , the nerve center of the hippie scene in the seventies. From Sant Ferran , we will head towards the Tramuntana coast, which occupies the north-central part of the island and is mainly low rock. Cala en Baster is at the end of the path; you will be surprised by its imposing height, the transparency of its waters, and the whimsical shapes that the wind sculpts in the marés rocks, where traditional boat sheds are hidden, this time with a cave-like appearance. Our route will continue south along inland paths with a distinctly agrarian character, where we will appreciate typical elements of the Formentera landscape such as fig trees propped up with “estalons”, small flocks, and family orchards divided by characteristic stone walls. At the end of our destination, Migjorn awaits us, the longest beach in Formentera with an extension of 5 km that, in the shape of a crescent moon, covers the entire south of the island.
